Saw a new SS at my local dealer tonight. First one I have seen in blue and I absolutely love the color on it. My only beef is the interior color though. I don’t think brown really works, but I am sure some of you may differ.
Bonus Z06 for your time.

Personally, I’m with you. I don’t think that combination works, but I’m sure somebody will love it.

Yeah it just isn’t my thing. I think black or even gray would look better than the saddle brown that seems to be in almost every blue vehicle these days.

That someone would be me. At least in theory. It’s hard to tell how it looks in person.

I dunno - I think the brown and blue works. This one is right on the edge though. The darker the blue, the better brown works. BMW is working on becoming famous for choosing the perfect blue/brown combo.

I love it. And is it just me or did the wheel selection change?

Yeah the picture sucks. It really doesn’t do it justice. It just doesn’t look right in a Camaro.

You actually bring up and interesting point because I have had several conversations about BMW moving to that more with their blue cars. The interior in mine is black. Honestly I could not see it being any color other than black. To me, if the car is going to have a brown interior, it needs to work well with the car, not just the color. Ferrari has become quite good with this. BMW I am not so sure about, and I really hate to say that because I am a shameless BMW fanboy. That’s just my opinion though.

Dealer was already closed so I may try to go back during the day just to see what the markups are.

Color is a tricky thing. I’m a designer of sorts in my day job (non-automotive). To make matters worse, not everyone perceives color the same way. In general - men see blue better than women but women are better at discriminating. People with blue eyes see color better than those with brown - and I’m not just saying that because I have blue eyes.
Dark browns tend to go well with darker colors (like deep blue) where as lighter browns tend to go well with brighter colors (yellows and bright red - think Ferrari).
People also have personal bias. I have a boss who HATES pink and purple. I think they’re entirely reasonable colors to use - especially when looking for appropriate compliments.
There is BOTH subjectivity and objectivity in color. There are things the majority of the population can see and things that much of the population may disagree on.
You may find it fun to browse through some popular color schemes - you may recognize some from cars: https://color.adobe.com/explore/most-p…

Yeah I like those as well. Those wheels would look great on the one I saw. I wonder if they decided to go in a different direction?

Wow, that is quite interesting. I guess if you want to go a step further, add those who are colorblind into the mix. I see what you are saying, though.
I do agree with you on what goes with what. I guess my main issue is just that it seems nowadays if the car is blue, the interior is brown. That’s fine for some, bit there are those of us who simply don’t like brown interiors and are forced to settle for a different exterior color.
Personal bias definitely played a factor for me. I drove 7 hours to buy my BMW because it was blue. There were other factors as well, but the color was one of the main ones.
Thanks for the link! I will definitely take a look at it. I am interested in seeing what all is on there.

I like that combo. A few days ago, I configured the Hyper Blue w/Kalahari interior, no sunroof, though. The colors go well together. Ash Gray would be my second choice.

Thats interesting.
I was born without the ability to differentiate between a nice interior and a terrible one. They all run together.
However, theres some very talented people on here that can tell the difference just by looking at the outside of the car. The really good ones can even identify the type of plastic on the dash by smell.

I don’t think it’s bad. I think brown or beige interiors are a lot more inviting than black ones. But yeah, it’s not ideal for a blue car. And such a pretty one at that.

Just tell me they’re going to make a new SS sedan with this underneath.

I can say the new Camaro is shorter and narrower than the previous generation, but I am not sure by how much. I assume it could still be done though.

The current SS sedan is on a Holden platform, and is going away soon, I believe. I’d just love to see Chevrolet keep a V8, RWD, manual sedan in their lineup.

Yep. Holden Commodore/Vauxhall VXR/Old Pontiac G8. Great platform that produced some nice cars imo. The problem with the SS is it just hasn’t sold enough from the looks of it. Could be because of production numbers, but it was very expensive for a car that didn’t look as good as the G8 we had. It would be hard for GM to justify continuing to sell a 40k rwd sedan if nobody is buying them.

Yup, but I’d argue that GM hasn’t tried very hard to sell them. The G8 didn’t sell in huge numbers, either. I remember reading that they’re actually under some obligation, maybe as part of the agreement with Holden, to sell them here.
As far as looks, it’s by far the most sleeperish of all sleepers, which I kind of like, actually. Only the exhaust note gives it away.

I will agree on that. Advertising has been almost non existent. It’s not like the Vette where it can just sell itself. I didn’t know that about the obligation, though. Interesting.
Definitely a sleeper as far as looks go. The G8 was at least slightly more aggressive looking.
Those numbers pretty much tell the story. It was never meant to have the volume of the Camaro, but I think GM could have done better.

Didn’t find any proof of an obligation, but read the article below. It does into good depth about the situation and the loyalty of at least one GM exec to the factory workers in Australia.
“Currency issues hurt earlier Holden exports, but the dramatic drop in the US dollar relative to the Australian dollar since the financial crisis has doomed any hope that Holdens might make money in the US.”
